Target Announces ‘Prime Day’ Sale and Early Gift Card Deal

As Amazon Prime Day approaches — it’s slated for June 21-22 — no retailer wants to be left behind.

Target is among the first stores to announce it will try to pull shoppers away from Amazon on Prime Day 2021. The beloved discount chain will host what it characterizes as its biggest online sale of the summer.

The June 20-22 event will include an extra 24 hours of deals compared to previous years. In addition, food and beverage bargains will be included for the first time.

While Target is not yet disclosing any details about the bargains it will offer, it does say:

“Think hundreds of thousands of Target.com discounts (and special, limited-time deals) across every shopping category, from electronics and home to essentials, toys, beauty and food and beverage.”

Target even takes a small dig at Amazon, promising deals “with no waiting or membership fee required.” (Amazon’s Prime Day sale is an exclusive benefit available only to Prime members.)

There is one deal you will be able to grab in advance of the big event. From June 16-19, digital Target gift cards will be 5% off.

This offer is available online only, and you must be a member of the free loyalty program Target Circle to cash in. There will be a $500 limit on purchasing discounted gift cards.
