IVHP virtual health and wellness classes for April

Inter Valley Health Plan is offering several free virtual health education and wellness classes throughout the month of April for those 55 and older.
 
Registration is required for log in information at http://www.ivhp.com/vitality or by calling (800) 886-4471. Classes are subject to change.

The schedule for April’s Vitality Series classes is as follows:

Thursday, April 1, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Virtual Book Club. “Time to discuss our latest book of the month and pick next month’s title. Come with your insights and suggestions and let’s have a little fun.”

Tuesday, April 6, 10 a.m. to noon, Make a Terracotta Windchime. “Easy to make and inexpensive windchime to make for yourself, or as a project with your grandchildren.  Supply list provided.”

Wednesday, April 7, noon to 1 p.m., Dealing with Dizziness. “Dizziness, vertigo and Ménière’s disease are included in this discussion about the many different types of dizziness and what you can do to improve your condition and stay on your feet.”

Thursday, April 8, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Control Clutter Chaos in your Home. “Is clutter taking over your life? April is spring cleaning month and it’s a good time to get rid of clutter in your home. Learn simple techniques to get your home and life in control again.”

Thursday, April 8,  11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Master Gardener Class: Citrus Tree Care. “A Riverside master gardener will explain what you need to know about planting, feeding, pruning and caring for citrus trees to yield your best crop ever.”

Friday, April 9, 10 a.m. to noon, Friday Fitness Class. “Exercise can reduce stress and weight, build stronger bones, improve our brain health and your quality of life.  This is an ongoing class that meets every two weeks to feature new exercises and ideas to keep us healthy and well.”

Wednesday, April 14, noon to 2 p.m., Workshop: Create Income from your 401K or IRA. “Are you prepared for retirement? Need to know what to do with your employer retirement plan? How much can you spend? How do you make that money last? Join us to answer these questions and learn how to spend your savings, in what order, and how to get a guaranteed income stream for the rest of your life.”

Thursday, April 15, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., The Art of Creative Journaling. “Elizabeth Preston, MA, demonstrates how this form of art therapy may improve and balance your brain health, reduce stress and more. Be ready to begin your own journal and begin improving your life. A supply list will be provided.”

Tuesday, April 20, noon to 1 p.m., Managing Diabetes. “An in-depth look at how to prevent the health complications associated with diabetes. Tips on carb-counting, glycemic control and meal planning are included in this full hour of information to help you control your diabetes.”

Wednesday, April 28, noon to 2 p.m., Lunchtime Learning: Financial Planning for Women.

Financial experts Tracy Haraksin, of Pacific Advisors, and Pam Bergman-Swartz, a senior real estate specialist, will explain key aspects of planning for your future finances, healthcare and housing.”
